96 Years Young

by Christian Schreiber, Staff Blogger

Art Linkletter — 96 years young

When I was young, I read a couple of books by Art Linkletter -- collections of some of the best quips from his "Kids Say the Darndest Things" TV shows. The books made me laugh, and later on, seeing the occasional re-runs of his shows, I came to appreciate the way Mr. Linkletter interacted with kids as well as with the audience.

So when someone emailed me a link to a
story and video about this "96-year-old legend" who is "still joking," I was eager to read it. For one thing, I didn't realize he was still alive! For another, I wondered what he's up to now.

As it turns out, he's very active and still loving life! In February, Art Linkletter was the main attraction at an event hosted by my company,
Providence Life Services. He was speaking to a group of about 200 people who are preparing for retirement, thinking about moving into one of our communities, and still eager to get the most out of life. Art Linkletter was perfect for this crowd.

He's still funny. He still loves interacting with audiences. He's still a model of good-natured good taste. I'm proud to be part of a company that not only recognizes a class act -- at 96 years old -- but invites others to benefit from it as well.

The local Lombard, Illinois, paper was there to cover the event. You can read their write-up at
